Melbourne city will get a taste of Pasifika next month with a major “pop up” store initiative called ‘Vaiusu’ set to showcase Samoan and Pacific products.
Vaiusu is a collaboration between Living Koko, Hina Leis, Measina Treasures of Samoa, Charlie and Co Skincare and Nesian Pearl Clothing. The part-time retail pop up store will be located at 11 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda. Doors will open on November 1 – November 2016 from 12 to 5 pm.
The store will hold a range of products, many with a link to small tropical islands such as Samoa and Tokelau. The range will include designer clothing for men and women, skin care, cacao tea, chocolate, jewelry and floral crowns, headpieces and leis.
Spokesperson for Vaiusu and Living Koko Fipe Preuss is excited that a Pacific store located in Melbourne central is coming to fruition. St Kilda is buzzing with Melbourne city workers, residents and tourists with it’s popular beach and cafes. The initiative will expose Pasifika to Melbourne city goers.
“I am feeling excited and am grateful that I am able to work closely with so many talented creatives who are coming together for a special showcase,” she says.
“Vaiusu will be in St Kilda from 1 -22 November but I feel there will always be a place for Vaiusu and we will be working on cementing this. Melbourne is rapidly growing and evolving. The energies coming together on for this display are exactly what we have been missing in Melbourne.”
As well as having a retail space during the day Vaiusu has teamed with performers such as Vaniah Toloa, Nuholani, Tama Tatau, Nesian Pearl and Asalemo Tofete to organize a concert on November 3rd and a Merry Coconuts Christmas Party on November 5th.
