If you thought Pacific Runway in Sydney was just ‘another fashion show’, this year’s show would prove you wrong.

The calibre of the designs and the impressive showcase itself exceeded all expectations as high-end Pacific Fashion dominated the catwalk.

Pacific Runway has stamped itself as the deliverer of sophisticated or as I like to call it, ‘Posh’ Pasific fashion. Each design showcased a real insight into the Polynesian culture and the way the traditional patterns and clothing can be transformed into magnificent attire.

The annual show has changed the meaning and the game of what used to be a somewhat complacent Pacific fashion era (those bright colours and pretty flowers). Today Pacific Runway proves our fashion means so much more: Elegance. High end. Class. World Standards. PACIFIC.

The show focused on designs from the Pacific islands with their unique styles and patterns interpreted from lush, glamorous and even urban settings.

Many designs had touches of mainstream and European fashion influences which impressed all.  The designs catapulted Pacific Fashion into a world of 21st century innovating style.

Samoan Designer Afa Ah Loo made his debut at his first Australian runway show. The talented designer, well known amongst the Samoan fashion elite was in awe of the standards set by Pacific Runway.

“I am absolutely impressed with this show,” he said.

“I love the venue and the standard of this show.  I love when Pacific designers can gather in a creative space. I was looking at other designers collections tonight and thought ‘I would never have come up with that design!” or “how come I didn’t think of that?” he laughs. “And that’s what it’s all about too.”

He adds that his particular collection was inspired by his own journey as a Fashion designer.

As the night ended with a standing ovation for Pacific Runway director Jannike Seuili (and deservingly so), I went home thinking how Pacific fashion has progressed. It’s evolvement into high-end fashion whilst still maintaining it’s roots makes me excited about shows to come and Pacific fashion overall.

If you are looking for that next outfit for your next event, look no futher.  Don’t just wear that mediocre Pacific dress of the rack! Kill it. Wow People. Be edgy. Wear something different and support our designers!
