Ms Howman, who is an Australian Basketball representative is excited to be in the Philippines. The 1.78m towering beauty tells SUGA, “Being here has been an exciting and illuminating experience! It truly is positive and I am very excited to be here especially when it comes to issues of the environment.
“There are similarities between Philippines and Samoa in terms of the challenges faced by our island of Samoa. The preservation of culture and the environment are also largely emphasised. Respect for the environment and for each other are intertwined.
“This experience has shown me not to suspect differences but to appreciate and identify common challenges and that by learning from each other, a solution may be found. Respect, tolerance and understanding of not just ourselves but of our beliefs, history and natural environment will ensure a future for all.”
The winner of Miss Earth will serve as the Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns worldwide. Fellow Polynesian beauty Model Diamond Lagi is also at the pageant representing Tonga,
The final coronation night will be held on November 4th.
